Add believable, interactive water to your project in seconds. Drop BP_WaterVolume into your level, drag it to the size you need, and you instantly get a translucent, refractive water surface with working buoyancy and ripples that react to your character.

Unlike the built-in Water plugin, this system is completely self-contained — no plugins to enable, no engine restart, no ocean/river rigging. It's purpose-built for pools, ponds, lakes, cisterns, flooded rooms, and tomb/dungeon water.

  • Real buoyancy for any physics object
    Any actor with Simulate Physics enabled floats automatically — crates, barrels, debris, ragdolls. The volume detects bodies with a live overlap query (so objects need zero setup), then applies depth-based buoyant force, linear & angular drag, and a subtle wave bob so props settle and rock naturally.

  • Player-reactive ripples
    Concentric ripples radiate outward from the player and appear only while they move through the water, fading smoothly when they stop — driven through a Material Parameter Collection.

  • Genuinely see-through water
    Translucent, IOR-refracted surface with depth-based opacity (clear in the shallows, richer with depth), Fresnel reflections, animated Gerstner surface waves, and fine high-frequency detail normals for sparkle.

  • Tweak everything from the Details panel
    Resize the area, set depth, pick the water color and opacity, and tune buoyancy strength, drag, and wave motion — all per-instance, updating live in the editor.
