Introduction:

A landmark of the Yuanmingyuan Garden.

The ruins of the Great Fountain, located at No. 28 Qinghua West Road, Haidian District, Beijing, within the Haiyantang Hall of the Yuanmingyuan Garden, were one of the ten scenic spots of Haiyantang. Built between 1745 and 1759 (the tenth to twenty-fourth years of the Qianlong Emperor's reign).

The main feature of the Western-style buildings was the artificial fountains, then called "waterworks." Due to their numerous numbers, grand scale, and unique shapes, they were known as the Great Fountain. The three main fountain groups—the Xieqiqu, Haiyantang Hall, and the Great Fountain—are quite distinctive and represent the essence of Chinese and Western cultures.
