Description

Reference To Cinematic (R2C) is an Unreal Engine color grading and look-matching plugin designed to quickly match your scene to the visual style of a reference image.

Import a photograph, film still, concept art image, or use one of the included cinematic presets. R2C analyzes the reference and extracts key visual characteristics such as white balance, color balance, contrast, saturation, exposure, vignette, shadow/midtone/highlight response, and other grading information. The resulting look can then be applied directly to either a Cine Camera Actor, a Post Process Volume, or both.

R2C is designed to reduce the time normally spent manually adjusting multiple Unreal Engine post-process settings while still giving artists control over the final result.

Key Features

  • Reference Image Color Matching
Import PNG, JPG, JPEG, EXR, or BMP reference images directly from your computer or Unreal Engine Content Browser.

  • 10 Built-In Cinematic Presets
Quickly apply a range of ready-made looks including warm, cinematic, noir, sci-fi, vintage, high-contrast, pastel, and other styles.

  • Automatic Color Analysis
Extracts and calculates white balance, tint, saturation, contrast, shadows, midtones, highlights, exposure, bloom, and vignette characteristics from the reference image.

  • Adjustable Look Intensity
Blend smoothly between your original scene and the extracted look using the intensity control.

  • Cine Camera Actor Support
Apply extracted looks directly to a selected Cine Camera Actor.

  • Post Process Volume Support
Apply grading scene-wide through a selected Post Process Volume.

  • One-Click LUT Generation
Generate an Unreal Engine-compatible LUT texture directly inside the Content Browser.

  • Safe Reset / Restore Defaults
Remove applied grading settings and return the selected camera or Post Process Volume to its original state.

Workflow

Choose a reference → Analyze the look → Adjust intensity → Apply to Camera or Post Process Volume → Generate or export a LUT

R2C uses Unreal Engine's native post-processing and LUT workflow, making it suitable for cinematics, virtual production, environment art, visualization, game development, Sequencer, Movie Render Queue, Lumen, Nanite, and Path Tracer workflows.
