These are 100% custom-built presets featuring authentic Norway Spruce (Picea abies) — the defining conifer of Central and Northern European forests. Unlike generic spruce assets, the dead branch geometry and trunk diameter data in these presets are partially derived from real terrestrial laser scan (TLS) measurements of actual trees. This is not photogrammetry — it is structurally accurate procedural geometry, informed by scientific field data and refined through an extensive proprietary pipeline.
These presets give you exclusive access to the Foliage Voxel technology and represent the most comprehensive spruce preset collection available for the Procedural Vegetation Editor.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: FIRST LOAD TIME & OVERVIEW MAP
The Overview Map is intentionally populated with Low Poly variants only!
This is a deliberate design decision to keep initial load times manageable — loading all High variants simultaneously would result in multi-hour cache generation sessions on most hardware.
High Poly variants are available and fully functional, but are best loaded individually or in small batches. Depending on your hardware, cache generation for a single High Poly tree can take up to 20 minutes on first load. This is a ONE-TIME process per asset — subsequent loads are fast (seconds).
The Procedural Vegetation Editor is experimental in UE 5.7 and 5.8. Performance improvements are expected in future engine updates.

All variants visible in the PDF are included as pre-exported skeletal or static meshes. Tree variants labeled "PVE Preset Only" in the preview images are not included as pre-exported meshes and must be generated via the built-in optional PVE graph preset (UE 5.8). The structural accuracy of these presets goes beyond artistic interpretation. Dead branch geometry and trunk diameter values are partially derived from scientific TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanning) datasets of real Norway Spruce trees. This data was processed through a multi-stage proprietary pipeline.
The result is procedural geometry with genuine botanical grounding, invisible in conventional assets.

This asset does not include custom Season or Wind Blueprints, but works seamlessly with Quixel's existing Season and Wind Blueprint systems.
⚠️ Due to Unreal Engine's current maximum bone count per scene, the number of High Poly skeletal mesh variants that can be placed simultaneously in a single level is limited. Low Poly skeletal mesh variants use significantly fewer bones and are not affected by this limitation. For large-scale scene population, Low Poly skeletal meshes or the included Static Mesh variants are recommended.
