Ιερά Μονή Αγίου Νικολάου Ημεροβιγλίου The Agios Nikolaos Monastery in Imerovigli, Santorini, is one of the island’s most picturesque buildings and a popular tourist spot for souvenir photos. It is dedicated to St. Nicholas, St. Panteleimon, and Our Lady of the Life-Giving Spring. Founded on December 6, 1651, by the Gyzi family, an Orthodox family based in the Skaros Castle, the monastery operated until 1815. A year later, the nuns founded a new monastery, completed in 1820. Located between Imerovigli and Firostefani, it offers breathtaking sea views. Part of the monastery was damaged by the 1956 earthquake, particularly one chapel, which has been partially restored.
