VAT - Virtual Animation Texture Demo Video

Description

Create procedural roots, vines, and organic barriers directly inside Unreal Engine. PRG is built for environment art, level dressing, ruins, cliffs, tunnels, forests, walls, and overgrowth workflows. Use built-in presets for fast results, or switch to Expert Mode for deeper control over branching, shaping, surface interaction, materials, and mesh generation.

Version 3 replaces the older Procedural Mesh Component runtime playback with VAT - Virtual Animation Texture playback. Animated growth is now baked into texture-driven data, making runtime reveal and regrowth effects lighter weight, smoother, and higher quality than the previous procedural mesh rebuild approach.

This update also adds new behavior profiles, including Wrapping behavior for vines and Climbing behavior for roots. Vines can now wrap more naturally around surfaces, corners, supports, and irregular geometry, while roots can climb vertical surfaces while keeping root-style branching and shaping.

Generated results can be exported as Static Mesh assets for final scene placement, or exported as Runtime Growth Actors for VAT-based animated playback. The plugin also includes an Attraction Actor for guiding growth toward sampled points or surfaces, and a Barrier Actor for generating organic strand barriers across openings.

PRG uses a custom flow-aligned material workflow rather than triplanar projection, with directional flow data, seam and twist continuity, and material payload support designed for root, vine, and barrier textures that follow the direction of growth. Nanite support is enabled by default for static mesh export workflows.
