EasyWaterscape is your must-have water tool for Unreal Engine 5.7+. It runs a Tessendorf FFT ocean simulation in realtime, delivering believable, non-repeating waves from your feet to the horizon. Everything is driven through a single Blueprint actor: drop it into a level, choose a preset, and your water is ready in seconds, no wading through endless settings or reading through tedious documentation. Every single variable and slider is clearly labeled with tooltips for your ease of use.

  • True FFT ocean simulation : Tessendorf/JONSWAP spectrum drives the surface, the same approach used in AAA water. Layered swell, mid waves, and fine chop all move and interact like real water, never as looping noise.

  • Made for Games and Cinematics. Optimized for games usage, and stable under Sequencer/Movie Render Queue/Graph.

  • Tiling-Free: EasyWaterscape offers tools to create a tile-free water surface (User adjustable), including real-world phenomenons to naturally break up repeating patterns.

  • Boundless ocean or bounded lake: Switch between an endless ocean or a smaller contained lake or pond. The water follows the camera, so you can sail or fly indefinitely without running out of surface.

  • Buoyancy: Includes 3 buoyancy types based on your needs. A Blueprint Component, A Niagara System Blueprint, and a material function. Samples live wave height anywhere on the surface to float boats, debris, or characters convincingly on the real waves.

  • Built-in CoastMaker tool: One-click coastlines. Adds foam, wave runup, and breaking surf form automatically along the edges of your land. No manual work.

  • Dynamic foam: Physically-derived foam forms where the water naturally folds (Jacobian-based), builds up and fades in a natural way. Optional crashing foam builds along coastlines.

  • One-click presets: Includes Calm Lake, Rough Sea, and Stormy Ocean, selectable from a simple dropdown. The preset system is Data Asset–driven, so custom presets can be created too.

  • Fully exposed controls. All variables are Instance-Editable with tooltips and tunable live in the editor.

  • 100% Blueprint. No C++, no external plugins required. Fully readable and extensible.

DISCLOSURES/Things to know:

  • EasyWaterscape is not intended to be a complete game system. It is a stepping stone from which you can build upon.

  • When Screen Percentage is BELOW 100% (upscaling between 50-100% screen percentage), EasyWaterscape can look blurry, smeary, pixellated. This is due to Temporal Super Resolution (TSR). If using TSR, Recommended to use 100% screen percentage or higher. Other AA Methods look superior.

Currently in Beta:

  • Underwater feature: A built-in underwater post-process with a clean surface-crossing transition, fully controllable. Works as intended, future version updates will focus on higher quality and new features.

  • Lake Mode: Currently works great, as intended. Future version updates will focus on making the system more efficient.
