Descrizione

Water System is an editable water material system for Unity 6 and the Universal Render Pipeline. Use it on plane surfaces or separate closed meshes, with four ready-made styles: Realistic, Lightly Stylized, Strongly Stylized, and Graphic.

Adjust waves, crest foam, drifting surface foam, contact and coastal foam, depth colour, refraction, and animated caustics through the material Inspector. Duplicate a preset to create your own look, or edit the supplied Shader Graphs and HLSL.

Included:

  • Two master Shader Graphs and 34 shared subgraphs.

  • Eight material presets: four styles for planes and closed volumes.

  • Shared HLSL, textures, caustic atlas, and custom material Inspector.

  • Renderer support for closed-volume depth and a URP setup menu.

  • Plane and volume showcase scenes, supporting meshes and materials, and a user guide.

  • One importable .unitypackage, organized under Assets/WaterSystem.

The full Unity project and source repository are available separately on GitHub.

Compatibility and setup:

Requires Unity 6 with URP and Render Graph enabled. Supports Unity 6.3 LTS, 6.4, 6.5, and 6.6. This Fab download is prepared with Unity 6000.6.2f1 and URP / Shader Graph 17.6.0. Use the URP package appropriate for your supported editor version. Built-in and HDRP are unsupported.

In an existing URP project, import the .unitypackage, then choose Water > Set Up Active URP Renderer. The helper enables depth and opaque textures, installs the volume depth renderer feature, and reserves Water Volume / layer 30 if available. If layer 30 is occupied, the helper stops; configure a dedicated layer and the feature's layer mask manually. Importing the asset package itself does not overwrite your Graphics, Quality, or layer settings.

Assign a plane preset to a surface mesh or a volume preset to a separate closed mesh on the configured water-volume layer. Provide sufficient mesh subdivisions for visible wave displacement.

Scope and limitations:

Volume water is intended for a camera outside the water. This release does not include underwater camera rendering, intersecting or overlapping water volumes, fluid simulation, or buoyancy. Refraction uses opaque scene colour and excludes transparent objects behind the water.

Rendering checks cover Windows with DX11. Mobile and XR performance have not been measured. Test compatibility and performance in your target project.
