What are Influnece Maps?
An influence map is a world-space grid that accumulates values like threat, attraction, or scent over time.
AI units don’t ask questions like “Is this spot good?” -- they sample the influence map and react instantly. This approach scales extremely well for hundreds of agents, where EQS or per-AI decision logic becomes a bottleneck.
Influence maps have historically been widely used in real-time strategy (RTS), simulation, war games, and other large-scale encounters. With this toolkit, you can apply the same techniques in Unreal without reinventing the system yourself.


Key features include:

  • Includes an Influence Volume and Influence Source Component to create influence maps with just a few clicks.

  • Computes influence maps every tick, dynamically switching between GPU and CPU based on detected bottlenecks.

  • Built-in 2.5D spatial queries including vision occlusion tests, height-aware sampling, and navigability checks.

  • Supports composite operations on base influence maps, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, normalization, etc.

  • Provides intuitive Blueprints and Behavior Tree Services and Tasks to asynchronously query influence maps.

  • Debugging tools, Visual Logger, and Unreal Insights support

  • High performance
