A forgotten part of history :

In the 18th century, some Breton fishermen managed to enter the ports of Japan, by tagging along some Dutch traders. It resulted in a short but intense cultural exchange (nicknamed the “Nedeleku Shogunate”, after the leader of the Breton fishermen), of wich this Wakizashi is one of the results. At a crossroads between the japanese art of sword-making and the cultural traditions of Brittany, this Wakizashi is one of his kind. It was carried on the belt of the Breton sailors, and was mainly used for cutting butter.
