描述
Shell Fur Toolkit is a shell-based fur rendering and grooming toolkit for Unity URP. It draws the same mesh as multiple shells with GPU Instancing and uses noise-based clipping to build fur volume. No geometry shaders or hair cards are needed. Both static meshes and Skinned Mesh Renderers are supported.
Rendering
1–100 shells, with adjustable length, density, thickness and length variation.
Groom map for direction, density and length. Style map for blending fine, clumped and default fur, plus a curl mask.
Root/tip color, AO, specular, smoothed normal correction, three bend modes and gravity.
Transparent blending or Alpha Test.
Distance-based shell LOD and anti-flicker, so far-away characters draw fewer shells without shimmering.
GPU Fur Animation
World-space wind with direction, strength, speed, scale and tip flutter.
Inertia: fur swings when the character moves or turns.
Collision: nearby 3D Colliders push the fur aside, and it springs back after they leave.
Debug views for wind, collision, motion and combined, plus Scene Gizmos in Play Mode.
Editor Tools
3D Brush: paint length, comb direction, density, fur style, curl and AO directly on the mesh in the Scene view.
2D UV Paint Window: paint on the UV canvas, with the brush position mirrored on the mesh in the Scene view.
Fur Noise Generator: generate tileable RGB fur noise with a Compute Shader, with live preview and presets.
Channel Combiner: pack R/G/B/A channels from different textures into one map.
Groom UV Migration: carry groom and style maps over to a new UV layout or topology.
Editor UI in English and Chinese.
Included
Two sample scenes: a static fox and a skinned, animated fox.
User manual in English and Chinese (PDF).
LWGUI 1.37.0 (MIT) is bundled for the material inspector. No extra installation is required.
Developed and tested with Unity 2022.3 + URP 14 on Windows. URP only. See the additional information below for full requirements and limitations.
