Beschreibung
The Islam-Khoja Minaret ( Uzbek: Islomxo’ja minorasi ) is a minaret in Khiva , located in the center of the Ichan-Kala citadel , part of the Islam-Khoja complex , together with the madrasah of the same name . It is the tallest structure in old Khiva, and, according to some sources, with a height of 56.6 meters, it is the second tallest minaret in Central Asia (in third place is the Kalyan Minaret in Bukhara - 46.5 meters) [1] , in first place is the Kutlug-Timur Minaret in Kunya-Urgench - more than 60 meters [3] . However, according to information from L.Yu. Mankovskaya and V.A. According to Bulatova, the minaret’s extraordinary upward thrust is an optical effect, which is associated with the rapid reduction in diameter upwards and the rhythmic cladding of the tower, while the true vertical size of the minaret is only 44.5 meters [2] .
