Situated in the Black Hills near Keystone, South Dakota, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial stands as a testament to artistic prowess and historical significance. This iconic national memorial features the massive sculpture, known as the Shrine of Democracy, intricately carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore. The brilliant mind behind this masterpiece is sculptor Gutzon Borglum, who meticulously designed and supervised the project’s execution from 1927 to 1941. Assisting him in this monumental task was his son, Lincoln Borglum.
