Building Information

Located at Nieuwenhuysenbuurt in Amsterdam, these flats were built in 1953 during the reconstruction period, shortly after the Second World War. At a time when everything was in short supply the first residents could appreciate the freedom to furnish their own modern home.

The homes recently celebrated their 65th birthday but many of them suffer from drafts, moisture problems and noise. After considering the best approach, the decision was made to demolish the old flats and replace them with modern apartment buildings.
