Me-262 was the world’s first operational jet-powered fighter aircraft, introduced by Germany during the final years of World War II. While its revolutionary speed and heavy armament significantly outclassed Allied piston-engine planes, its late arrival and chronic fuel shortages prevented it from altering the ultimate course of the conflict.
