描述
The Ruhrstahl X4 was a German air-to-air wire guided missile created in late WW2.
Once fired, two long wires unraveled both from the plane and missile, allowing the pilot to guide the missile to target by joystick.
It was intended to combat large Allied bomber formations by shooting missiles outside the defensive ring of machine gun protection.
This version is a cutaway depicting how the liquid glycol engine of the missile worked for thrust.
