Radio Stream System is a flexible and easy-to-integrate radio streaming solution for Unreal Engine 5. It allows developers to stream live internet radio directly into their projects using external radio APIs and FFmpeg-powered decoding.
Initial setup is straightforward, with plug-and-play functionality, while still offering enough control and extensibility for advanced use cases such as dynamic station switching, in-game radios, or immersive world audio systems.
Features
Stream live internet radio directly in Unreal Engine using real-world radio stations
Integration with the Radio Browser API to search and retrieve thousands of stations
FFmpeg-based decoding for robust support of common streaming formats
Simple Blueprint interface for:
Searching stations
Starting / stopping playback
Switching streams dynamically
Real-time audio playback through Unreal’s audio system
Supports dynamic station switching during gameplay
Designed for in-game radios, ambient audio systems, and simulation environments
Lightweight and modular architecture, easy to extend or customize
Works in packaged builds (not editor-only)
Use Cases
In-game car or other vehicle radios
Open-world ambient audio systems
Simulation and visualization projects
Interactive environments with live content
Dynamic audio driven by gameplay events
Notes
Requires an active internet connection for streaming
Streaming quality and availability depend on the selected station
The plugin uses external services (Radio Browser) and third-party libraries (FFmpeg)
Some streams may have latency depending on source buffering
