Description
American made autonomous attack drone Hornet. It is relatively cheap to produce and very quiet compared to other available drones. These drones have been in use in Ukraine since the spring of 2025. The Hornet unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is able to strike mid-range targets like logistic routs within a range of about 130-160 km without any remote guidance. Usually they fly rather low to find their prey. After detecting a target, it is able to lock it in and follow it autonomously until it strikes. The Hornet’s takeoff weight is approx. 15 kg. The drone’s weight without a warhead and battery is approximately 5 kg, and its maximum payload reaches 5 kg. The Hornet combines satellite navigation with an AI-powered optical target acquisition system, enabling autonomous flight with minimal operator communication, while significantly reducing vulnerability to electronic warfare and drone detection. Once targets are identified, the system presents them to the operator for final engagement decisions.
