Premium Live Retarget Nodes is a plugin consisting of two new animation nodes designed to make it easier than ever to runtime retarget one mesh to another and match proportions exactly.
These animation nodes automatically read data from the parent skeletal mesh component to allow you to exactly match your cosmetic mesh to your animating mesh, allowing you to standardize your animations without rerigging your assets to a common skeleton. As proportions can be matched identically, this also facilitates mixing and matching between asset packs.
Retarget Bone Chain Spline is perfect for character spines, using a spline as an intermediary between target mesh and parent mesh bone chains, making differing numbers of bones a non-issue.
Retarget Rotate and Scale to Match Child adjusts the rotation and scale of a target bone to position a selected child bone at the same location as a specified bone on the parent mesh.
Both nodes have options for offsets to account for differing pivot positions relative to each mesh, so they can be tuned for perfect fit.
An example retarget animation blueprint is provided to match the UE4 Mannequin to UE5's Manny and can be readily adapted to other assets such as Paragon heroes.
