Média 1 pour l'article Lorica Segmentata Kalkriese-Osnabrück (Hypothetical - Model Pre 2020)

Description

This is a highly accurate 3D model of the Roman Lorica Segmentata type Kalkriese, based on archaeological findings near Osnabrück and updated in accordance with the 2020 analysis of the complete armor unearthed at the Kalkriese battlefield (Teutoburg Forest, 9 AD).

Unlike later segmentata types such as Corbridge or Newstead, this early version:

  • Features simple curved shoulder plates (not subdivided into multiple segments).

  • Does not include the four lateral shoulder protection plates found in later variants.

  • Uses external leather straps and basic hinges for closure, as evidenced by the 2020 publication.

  • Displays a total of 7 horizontal bands protecting the torso, consistent with early imperial Roman military design.

This model balances realism and performance, making it ideal for historical games, cinematic rendering, virtual museums, or educational projects. Modeled with accurate proportions and historical fidelity.

🔧 Details:

  • Clean mesh topology

  • Optimized for real-time rendering and animation

  • Modeled based on historical reports and expert publications (2018–2023)

📜 Historical context:
This armor type is associated with the Roman legions of the early 1st century AD, specifically those annihilated in the Battle of Teutoburg Forest under Varus. This version reflects the transitional phase before the standardized and ornate Corbridge segmentata appeared.
