Magic Settings V1.0.6 One-Click Cinematic Project Setup
Choose the machine. Choose the stage. Apply once.
Magic Settings is an Unreal Editor plugin for repeatable cinematic project setup. It brings rendering settings, machine-aware memory budgets, workflow presets, project features, Post Process Volume packages, asset preparation, personal CVar packages, and guided preflight checks into one focused panel.
THREE WORKFLOW STAGES
EDITOR READY provides a responsive working baseline for layout, modeling, lighting, and look development.
CINEMATIC BUILD raises quality for completed scenes during finishing and review.
FINAL RENDER applies the highest curated settings for locked shots and final output.
MACHINE-AWARE BUDGETS
Automatic GPU memory detection selects practical budgets for texture streaming, ray tracing geometry, Nanite visible clusters, and Virtual Shadow Maps. Manual profiles are available for 12-16 GB, 24 GB, and 32 GB or larger GPUs.
PERSONAL CVAR PACKAGES
Create a native Console Variables Asset directly from Magic Settings, edit it in Unreal's Console Variables Editor, add your own CVars, and migrate it between projects. Merge the active Magic Settings stage, volume package, and Advanced overrides without deleting personal entries. Checked personal values apply last, so your deliberate settings remain the final override.
RENDERING AND PROJECT CONTROL
Use curated profiles for Nanite, MegaLights, Lumen, shadows, texture streaming, ambient occlusion, Path Tracing denoising, Heterogeneous Volumes, and optional NVIDIA DLSS quality modes. Project features and built-in cinematic plugin groups can be configured from the same panel. Asset Access can enable installed Fab and Actor Palette plugins without including legacy Bridge.
SHOT VOLUME PACKAGES
Apply independent Lumen, Path Tracing, and optional ray-traced translucency packages to a selected, existing, or newly created Post Process Volume. Magic Settings records a pre-apply snapshot and provides a one-click reset while protecting creative look controls such as exposure, color grading, bloom, depth of field, and motion blur.
GUIDED PREFLIGHT
Checks identify important project conditions including DirectX 12, Shader Model 6, rendering settings, memory budgets, and restart-required changes. Direct actions fix supported conditions, while the status area explains what changed and what still requires attention.
HERO ASSET CONTROL
Prepare selected Static Mesh assets with close-up Nanite encoding profiles, queued rebuilds, undo support, and a Content Browser context action. A stateful DISTANCE FIELDS ON/OFF/MIXED toggle controls the actual Generate Mesh Distance Field asset property. Yellow confirms that every selected editable mesh is enabled; mixed multi-selections remain explicit.
AUDITABLE CHANGES
Applied console variables are registered with Unreal's Console Variables Editor. Project changes are written to the current project's configuration only when the user applies them. Packages can be enabled or disabled independently, and restart-required changes remain visible until the editor has restarted.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
Unreal Engine 5.7 and 5.8.
Windows 64-bit editor plugin.
Editor-only; nothing is added to packaged game builds.
Uses Unreal Engine's built-in Console Variables Editor dependency.
Source-code Fab package; Unreal may compile the plugin on first use.
Magic Settings applies curated production baselines, not universal maximum values. Final settings should always be validated against the project's content, target hardware, and rendering pipeline.
