Medium 1 für Eintrag Traversecraft: Predicted Multiplayer Traversal (CMC + Mover)

Beschreibung

This is a technical system. Traversecraft is the movement code: C++, predicted on the client, checked on the server, for both the Character Movement Component and Mover. The environment in the video and the gallery is a showcase and is not included. The animations in the package are examples, meant to be replaced with your own or with Epic's Game Animation Sample.

Every move runs inside the movement system's own prediction. The owning client does not wait for the server, the server runs the same move from the same input, and a correction replays it like any other move. Nothing is switched off while it runs.

The moves

  • Vault, mantle and climb, fitted to the obstacle's real height (up to 3 m)

  • Ladders, straight or leaning, with a jump off and a climb off the top

  • Hang from ledges, shimmy, go round corners, jump from ledge to ledge, climb up

  • Slide under obstacles

  • Wall run and wall kick (off by default)

  • Ziplines and ropes

  • Co-op: brace to boost a teammate up, kneel at the edge to pull them after you

Measured
Dedicated server and two clients at 150 ms of lag and 5% packet loss:

  • CMC: about 2 corrections per traversal, a few centimetres each

  • Mover: under 1 rollback per traversal (Epic's Mover vault: 2.2 on the same course)

  • Traversecraft.Debug 1 draws each path and every correction, so you can check it yourself

For your project

  • Works with your own character: reparent a Blueprint character, or add the modes to your Mover component

  • Game Animation Sample: one right click sets it up

  • Full Blueprint access: 21 classes to make Blueprint children of, 140 calls, events and settings

  • AI nav links, Gameplay Ability System tasks, Traversal Hand IK node for hands on the real edge

Root motion animations stretched to each obstacle, still predicted

Requirements

- Traversecraft turns on three of Epic's engine plugins it depends on: Mover (the Mover version), Enhanced Input (the example character's controls) and Gameplay Abilities (the Gameplay Ability System tasks). All come with the engine.

Included

Not included

  • The environment art shown in the video and gallery (Abandoned Factory Buildings and Construction Site, sold separately on Fab)

Try it first: the demo (Windows, no engine needed) has the showcase and the plain example course: https://github.com/filipetessaro/traversecraft-demo
