The An-22 "Antei" is a large transport aircraft developed by Antonov and remains the largest turboprop aircraft in history. Capable of carrying up to 80 tons of cargo upon its maiden flight, it held the title of the world's largest transport aircraft until the introduction of the Lockheed C-5 in 1968. It also featured the most powerful engine output among all turboprop aircraft, with a flight range reaching 5,000 km even at maximum payload.

This is the first transport aircraft I have built in nearly seven months since completing the C-123 last December. It is also my first Antonov transport aircraft in about four years, following the An-124 I completed during my freshman year of high school. While I initially expected the build to take about 8 days, I finished it in just 4 days—half the time—as it was much easier than anticipated.
