RetroDitherShader is a collection of customizable dithering and posterization shaders for Unreal Engine designed to create retro, old-school, pixel-art inspired, toon, comic, and low-color visual styles. It uses screen-space dithering, Bayer-style pattern shading, luminance posterization, and color ramp controls to break up the image into crisp stylized light and shadow transitions.


The shader can be used as a full-screen post-process material. RetroDitherShader is a simple way to add a retro game look, pixelated shading, palette-based coloring, CRT-inspired style, limited color graphics, and stylized dithering effects to your Unreal Engine project.


Substrate Materials (Experimental) must be enabled in UE versions below 5.7. Shader Model 6 (SM6) must also be enabled during the initial setup.
