The title of this piece of art is a play on words, “el ala” (wing) and “tabla” (board) have a similar sound in Spanish. The sculpture represents the Greek myth of Icarus, and instead of wearing a pair of wings is holding a surfboard. The pedestal is beneath the water so it seems Icarus is walking above the surface of th sea.
