Located at 160 Derby St, Salem, MA 01970, Salem Maritime National Historic Site was established in 1938 as the first National Historic Site in the United States. The site preserves Salem’s rich maritime history through a collection of historic buildings, wharves, warehouses, and waterfront infrastructure connected to the city’s global trade network during the 18th and 19th centuries. The district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and remains an important cultural and historical landmark along Salem Harbor.
