3D As-Built Project: Natural Pool with Railway Sleeper Deck and Raw Moledo Stones

This project was developed to deliver the as-built of a natural pool measuring approximately 120.34 m² (with 72.84 m² of natural pool area and approx. 47.50 m² of masonry for the deck anchoring). The design was conceived to hide the treatment station, which features a mechanical and biological filtration system, as well as submersible pumps.

The purpose of this material is to show exactly how the project was executed in real life — a build with an estimated physical execution cost of around US$ 60,000 here in Brazil.

My name is Wallyson Jhonatan. I am a 3D artist and co-founder of Nature Ecossistema, a company specializing in natural pools and lakes.

Methodology and Precision

I developed an initial pre-project for the construction, but to ensure the model reflects reality and to deliver a material with even more value, I used a LiDAR scanner to map the exact area right after excavation. Although the scan provided an accurate mapping of the site, the final shape is not 100% identical to the initial pre-project. In large-scale builds like this, perfect alignment with the original design is rarely possible—heavy machinery and soil behavior during excavation always require necessary on-site adjustments.

This scan allowed me to capture the true, real-world formation of the natural pool's angles and the masonry execution as they were actually built. With this data in hand, the project was developed in SketchUp, ensuring precise measurements of the entire structure, in addition to the meshes of the pool's internal shape and the masonry. The design was adapted to the client's terrain topology and divided into two levels: a shallower "beach entry" (prainha) and a deeper swimming area.

What is included in the file?
  • 3D Scanning: Exact mesh of the natural pool's shape captured on-site.

  • Structures and Advanced Texturing: Detailed equipment room and integrated gourmet area. The textures combine native SketchUp materials with scanned surfaces processed by generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), ensuring the highest level of photorealism and visual fidelity.

  • Exclusive Equipment and Structures: 3D models made from scratch. The file includes a stone and railway sleeper fire pit. In addition to the sleeper deck, I also added an alternative version with a conventional wood deck.

  • Complete Treatment System: All filtration system components were modeled by me, in real scale, based on the methodology and physical systems used in Brazil. The component list includes:

    • Piping (90º elbows, curves, and Bypass system)

    • Submersible water pumps and float switches

    • Blue filter tank and electrical panel

    • Filter media (ceramic rings and filter mats)

    • Automatic air dryer, ozone generator, and UV filter

    • Underwater LED lighting and plastic pallets

  • Exclusive Library (SKP, Blender, and FBX): Includes my own collection (already validated in the market) containing a total of 10 detailed raw Moledo stone blocks and 10 railway sleeper blocks. Sleepers are excellent resources for projects focused on sustainable materials and repurposed wood.

File Package

Upon purchasing this material, you will receive 2 main versions of the project in SketchUp:

  • Conventional Deck Version: Project focused on aesthetic appeal, using a traditional wooden deck.

  • Technical As-Built Version: The technical "heart" of the project. It contains the treatment station with its exact measurements, the mesh generated by the LiDAR scanner overlaid on the pool project, the equipment room masonry, and all equipment.

    • Usage Tip: Everything is properly organized in tags in SketchUp. Remember to enable and toggle the tags to correctly analyze the positioning of hidden equipment and gain a full understanding of the structure.

⚠️ Important Notice and Study Benefits: This project is a visual representation containing the measurements, the area scan, and the treatment equipment used. For the physical execution of a build like this (masonry measurements, shaping, excavation, etc.), hiring a qualified professional (an architect, engineer, or landscaping specialist) is strictly required.

This file serves as excellent study material and a practical guide to understanding:

  • How the treatment system and the natural pool's shape work;

  • The correct angles for positioning the stones;

  • The appropriate chamfer size;

  • The exact location of the underwater LEDs;

  • Where and how to position the equipment room and the hidden treatment station beneath the deck or sleepers.
