Another runestone recorded in late August 2016, located in the former Viking settlement of Sigtuna, Sweden, a royal and commercial centre established in the late 10th century and remaining an important centre for around 250 years.
This stone is located south of Mariakyrkan (St. Mary’s Church) and is one of 12 that can still be seen within the town. It was recorded by photogrammetry.
The signage was recreated digitally and is shown in the same position as the information provided by Sigtuna Museum. It provides a translation of the runes in Swedish and English as well as some fascinating context and some rather harsh criticism of the stone’s carver, Torbjörn.
