UTK Leak Sentinel compares two moments and names the UObject classes that grew, so "the editor feels heavier every time I press Play" becomes a class name and a number.
Take a snapshot before, do the thing you suspect leaks, take a snapshot after. The panel lists the growth by class and says whether it stays inside a budget. Add cycles to tell a real leak from a cache that fills once.
What you get:
Growth by class, largest first, with physical memory in use.
Stable counts: every snapshot forces a full garbage collection first, so the numbers mean something.
Leak suspects: a class that grows on every cycle is marked "grew every cycle". A class that grows once and holds is not.
A budget check. The default budget allows 64 objects in total, 16 per class and 64 MB of memory.
A Markdown report (leaks.md) you can attach to a pull request.
For your own tests: the same functions are available to Blueprints and C++: capture, diff, evaluate against a budget (with an allow list and wildcards), rank suspects across cycles, save and load snapshots, and a one-call gate (RunLeakGate) that writes a Markdown report and returns pass or fail. The panel does not expose the budget or the allow list.
It names the class that grew and by how much. It does not trace references, so it cannot tell you who holds the object.
It counts UObject classes and physical memory in use. It is not a native allocator profiler.
Each snapshot runs a full garbage collection, which can pause the editor for a moment.
What you get and what you do not. You get this one tool. It works on its own from Tools > UTK > Leak Sentinel, and it also works with the free UTK Base, where it appears in the Hub. It is one feature, not the full kit. UTK Pro is the full kit: the Hub and all 15 tools in one plugin.
1. Open Tools > UTK > Leak Sentinel (or the UTK Hub) and click "Snapshot before".
2. Do the thing you suspect leaks, then click "Snapshot after".
3. Read the growth by class. Click "Add cycle" between repeats to find the classes that grow every time.
Who it is for: Developers whose game or editor memory grows during a session and who need to know which classes grow.
Support and updates. This purchase covers UTK 5 for Unreal Engine 5. You get every UTK 5 release (fixes, compatibility updates, improvements) and security updates for at least 5 years from purchase. UTK 6 for Unreal Engine 6 will be a separate product at its full price, for new and existing customers alike. UTK 5 keeps receiving updates for 6 months after UTK 6 launches, so you can decide whether to buy it or keep yours.
Email support is at [email protected].
