Slasher Core is a modular Unreal Engine action combat framework designed for third-person action games, slashers, action RPGs, sword-fighting games, stealth-action projects, boss encounters, and melee-focused prototypes.

Built around Unreal Engine’s Gameplay Ability System, Slasher Core provides reusable systems for player combat, enemy AI, companion and friendly AI, weapon-driven abilities, combo creation, target lock, ground and aerial attacks, hit reactions, ragdolls, inventory and equipment, projectiles, and action-game movement.

MAIN FEATURES

ABILITY-BASED COMBAT

Create reusable combat actions using Gameplay Abilities.

Slasher Core includes support for:

ABILITY COMBO GRAPH

Create branching combat sequences using a dedicated visual Ability Combo Graph Editor.

The graph system includes:

• Custom Combo Graph assets
• Start nodes, combo nodes, transition nodes, and end nodes
• Multiple transitions from combo nodes
• Ability class selection
• Animation montage selection
• Montage thumbnails displayed inside graph nodes
• Node properties panel
• Custom node and pin visuals
• Persistent graph data saved into the Combo Graph asset
• Breakpoints for individual combo nodes
• Play in Editor debug target selection
• Play and stop controls inside the graph editor
• Weapon-specific and character-specific Combo Graph setups
• Transition validation using target distance, target tags, gameplay tags, input actions, and gameplay events

Combo nodes can contain an ability class, animation montage, title, targeting data, motion-warping data, cinematic data, and transition rules.

The graph can be used to organize attack routes and control how combat abilities connect.

WEAPON, ITEM, AND INVENTORY SYSTEM

Slasher Core includes data-driven item and equipment support.

The system includes:

• Weapon static data assets
• Armor static data assets
• Item static data assets
• Inventory item instances
• Equipment slots
• Holster slots
• Dropped item actors
• Item-granted abilities
• Item-granted gameplay effects

• Sight, hearing, touch, and damage sense setup
• Patrol behavior
• Investigation behavior
• Chase distance control
• Target reconsideration
• Shared target logic
• Attacker and targeter tracking
• Combat ability execution through Combo Graphs

Example AI character setups include standard enemies, brute enemies, boss enemies, ninja-style enemies, swordmaster enemies, and friendly AI.

STEALTH ENEMY AI

Create enemies that support stealth-oriented gameplay and combat transitions.

The framework includes support for crouching, perception, investigation, noise events, and stealth attacks.

GROUND AND AERIAL ATTACKS

Create separate combat abilities and combo routes for:

• Ground attacks
• Air attacks
• Ground-to-air attacks
• Air-to-ground attacks

Ground and aerial attacks can be organized through the Ability Combo Graph.

AI-VERSUS-AI COMBAT

Slasher Core supports combat between AI-controlled characters, including:

• Unarmed AI combat
• Sword-based AI combat
• Friendly-versus-hostile encounters
• Boss and enemy combat demonstrations

RAGDOLL AND PHYSICS REACTIONS

Slasher Core includes ragdoll-related states, gameplay effects, and abilities for physics-based character reactions, death states.

PROJECTILE AND EXPLOSION SUPPORT

Slasher Core includes projectile helper systems for action abilities.

Projectile support includes:

• Projectile spawning
• Projectile launch parameters
• Prediction parameters
• Homing projectile options
• Bounce and gravity options
• Impact attachment options
• Spawn actor, sound, VFX, or Niagara effect on stop
• Noise reporting on impact
• Explosion and radial damage support

UI, VFX, SFX, AND FEEDBACK

Slasher Core includes gameplay feedback systems and example content.

Slasher Core is designed as a reusable framework that can be extended through C++ and Blueprints.
