Background Introduction

Dionysos (also spelled Dionysius) was the "God of Wine and the God of Drama" in ancient Greek mythology. This mask was unearthed on the southern slope of the Acropolis in Athens, which was the location of the Dionysian sanctuary. This was precisely the site of the theater where ancient Greek tragedies and comedies were performed. 8K textures
