The SX carriage was a class of stainless steel, locomotive-hauled suburban passenger carriage that ran in Brisbane from 1961 to 1999. These carriages shared many components and design features with the New South Wales U set. They were designed to be easily converted into electric multiple units during a network-wide electrification project, but this conversion never materialised. Many of the carriages were sold off and found new lives in New Zealand, Perth (Australia), Chile/Bolivia and Thailand.
