Level Streaming Tuner - Level Streaming Budget, Dialed In

You can download it for free GitHub. Buy it if you want to support me.

Unreal's level streaming is controlled by a dozen-plus console variables spread across async loading, component registration, garbage collection, and World Partition. There's no single place to manage them — you edit DefaultEngine.ini by hand and guess at the values.
Streaming Tuner collects those variables into one settings page. A single Streaming Budget slider drives the five main timing/granularity CVars together, presets give you a working baseline in one click, and every variable is still editable individually. Settings apply live in the editor and are written to config, so they carry into packaged builds.

Features

Budget & Presets
  • Single 0.0 → 1.0 Streaming Budget slider driving five streaming CVars at once

  • Presets: Open World · Linear Levels · Fast Load · Custom

  • Full per-CVar control with inline tooltips (checkboxes for toggles, numbers for the rest)

Coverage
  • World Partition — concurrent cell load cap, block-on-slow-streaming controls

  • Unified time budget (UE 5.6+)

  • Garbage collection — forced GC on unload, incremental GC while levels pend purge

  • Dedicated-server streaming toggles, including HLOD force-disable

Profiles & Platforms
  • Save configs as Streaming Tuner Profile assets (custom icon, color, Content Browser category)

  • Per-platform overrides written to each platform's own *Engine.ini

Runtime API

  • Blueprint Pause Tuner / Resume Tuner nodes

  • Automatic pause during first-launch shader compilation, so shaders precache with the full budget

Cleanup
  • Reset To Engine Defaults and Clear Plugin Entries From Ini for a clean rollback or uninstall

Who It's For

Open-world and level-based projects that need to balance streaming speed against frame-time cost, and teams shipping to multiple platforms with different streaming budgets.

Safety & Compatibility

  • Non‑destructive — every change is reversible via Reset To Engine Defaults / Clear Plugin Entries From Ini

  • Writes only to standard engine config sections — no hidden state

  • Tuned values persist into packaged builds on every target platform (Win, Mac, and beyond, subject to your EngineVersion targets)
