22 Cortlandt Street - New-York

Originally built between 1931 and 1934 as an Art Deco branch of the East River Savings Bank at 26 Cortlandt Street, the building was expanded in 1971 with an International-style office tower, 22 Cortlandt Street, designed by Emery Roth & Sons.The original bank, designed by Walker & Gillette, was preserved. Located near the World Trade Center, the building later housed Century 21 Department Store's flagship.Severely damaged during the September 11 attacks, the store underwent renovation and reopened in 2002.The structure reflects a blend of historical and modern architectural styles, representing resilience in the face of adversity.
