- Tyrannosaurus rex, or T. rex, was a massive carnivorous dinosaur that lived around 68 to 66 million years ago. It was known for its large size, reaching up to 40 feet in length and standing about 15 feet tall at the hips. With its powerful jaws, sharp teeth, and relatively small arms, T. rex was a top predator in its environment, preying on other dinosaurs.
