Beschreibung

Build a seated speedboat experience with a grabbable wheel, throttle and key ignition. VR Boat Template includes a detailed skeletal sport runabout, articulated outboard, distributed hull buoyancy and reusable live marine dashboard.

Install into your Unreal project, enable the plugin and open /VRBoat/Demo/Maps/L_VRBoat_Demo. The supplied map passed testing in a blank Blueprint-only project without manual Engine/Input settings. Unreal may automatically save its Enhanced Input class upgrade. Other vehicle plugins are not required.

Helm and boat controls

  • Two-hand steering with handover and regrabbing.

  • Forward, neutral and reverse lever with configurable neutral snap on release.

  • Dashboard OFF / ON / START key, start interlocks and detent haptics.

  • Outboard steering and trim, animated propeller, opening storage, folding ladder and passenger-seat swivel.

  • Fuel, navigation lights, horn and a simple bilge-water model.

  • Animated controller-driven OpenXR hands, desktop/gamepad controls and public integration APIs.

Customization

Use child Blueprints and editable handling, comfort and presentation Data Assets. Change handling, paint, engine sound, seat calibration and compatible skeletal meshes without editing C++. The separate marine dashboard includes four moving needles, live display widget, skeletal assembly and static parts.

Included

  • 6.65 m × 2.54 m runabout, 35 bones and four LODs: 629,900 / 313,202 / 124,232 / 48,648 rendered triangles.

  • Nine-bone standalone dashboard, 31,707 triangles.

  • Full island/ocean demo and asset overview map.

  • Editable Blender and FBX sources, original instrument artwork and hardware textures.

  • Recorded outboard RPM/load Sound Cue, wind, water and horn audio, plus procedural engine fallback.

  • C++ source and 32-page illustrated PDF/offline HTML guide.

Technical information

Unreal Engine 5.8, checked with 5.8.2. Three Runtime modules: VRBoat, VRBoatInput and VRBoatWater. Windows development: Yes. Mac development: No. Runtime targets: Win64 x64 and Android arm64. Network replicated: No.

149 Unreal assets: four gameplay Blueprints, one Animation Blueprint and one Widget Blueprint; four skeletal meshes, 16 static meshes, 25 Texture2D assets, five Sound Waves and one Sound Cue. Source defines 23 C++ classes, including 16 reflected UObject classes.

Required plugins: EnhancedInput, XRBase, OpenXR, Water (Experimental), InterchangeAssets and ACLPlugin. InterchangeAssets enables BaseMaterial. AnimationData is Editor-only; Interchange is Win64 Editor-only.

The full island layout contains 268,998 static environment triangles before Water’s adaptive surface. Choose rendering settings and LODs for your device. This is an editable single-player gameplay model; no headset frame-rate guarantee is advertised.

Provenance and media

Two processed engine loops use a CC0 recording by kyles on Freesound (sound 637202); engine make, model and stroke cycle are unspecified. Epic XR Template hands and Epic-derived material support retain applicable Unreal Engine terms. Island scenery was generated under the publisher’s paid Meshy account using inputs they own or may redistribute. Attribution and provenance records are included.

Gameplay gallery images and trailer footage show the included assets in Unreal. Captured gameplay and hand motion use scripted inputs; the standalone dashboard shot uses example telemetry. The thumbnail and controller guide are AI-assisted illustrations, not gameplay screenshots. The thumbnail’s cinematic coastline, lighting and spray are promotional artwork and are not an included environment.
