Beschreibung

22 parallax sky backgrounds, six layers each, for any engine. Sky, two cloud bands and three silhouettes, every layer a 1920x1080 PNG that repeats seamlessly sideways. Each comes in three sets: 1080 and 540 HD, and pixel art drawn at 320x180, not shrunk. Plus 32 loose clouds.

Every one plays in the preview video.

What's inside
  • Day: a clear day over snowy peaks and pines, a cloudy day, a sunrise, a sunset behind a city

  • Night: dusk with a crescent moon, a starry night, an aurora over snowfields, a city at night with lit windows

  • Weather: a storm deck, a grey rain sky, a snowy day, a fog that swallows the forest

  • Elsewhere: a desert of mesas and dunes, a volcano with its lava running, a toxic wasteland, and an alien world under a ringed planet

  • Lands: a palm beach with islands out at sea, a castle town under snowy peaks, an autumn forest, windmills over farmland, a castle on a moonlit shore, a jungle in the mist

  • 32 loose clouds: 8 each lit for day, sunset, storm and night, for skies of your own

  • Six layers a sky, back to front, each with the rate it scrolls at in effects.json (0 for the sky, 0.8 for the nearest hills) and a drift for the clouds, so they move on their own.

  • Godot 4 player included: ParallaxSky.add(self, "sunset") puts it behind your scene and follows your Camera2D; sky.change("storm", 3.0) crossfades to another as the weather turns. With a demo: pan through them all and take them apart a layer at a time.

  • Import steps for Unity and GameMaker in the README.

Made to go with our weather

The skies share their moods with Weather Overlays (sprite sheets, any engine) and Weather FX (live shaders for Godot and Unity): put storm rain and lightning over the storm sky, a blizzard over the snow, ash and embers over the volcano, a sandstorm over the desert, fireflies over the night, falling leaves over the autumn forest, rain over the jungle.

And above them

Space Backgrounds takes off from here: parallax space scenes in the same moods (the starry night's deep blue, the aurora, the alien world under its teal-ringed planet) and 20 rotating planets.

Compatibility
  • Any engine that draws a repeating texture: Unity, GameMaker, Godot, Defold, Construct, Phaser, LÖVE, MonoGame.

  • The Godot player: Godot 4.3 to 4.7, tested on both ends and on every renderer.

In the Unity package: every sky as a prefab in each set, its layers tiled across the camera's view and scrolling at their own rates as it pans, the loose clouds as sprites, and a demo scene to pick a sky and take it apart a layer at a time; the pixel set point filtered. Unity 6.3+ with URP.

The Godot shaders that render every frame and the package's C# scripts (the ParallaxSky component and the demo) were written with the help of AI (Anthropic's Claude); no generative image model.
