Description

The latest version of MetaHuman for Houdini is available with Unreal Engine 5.7. If you do not see an update in launcher, please install Unreal Engine 5.7 first, add the MetaHuman for Houdini plugin and then follow the installation steps. This version of MetaHuman for Houdini is compatible with MetaHuman characters created in both Unreal Engine 5.6 and Unreal Engine 5.7.

MetaHuman for Houdini enables you to assemble a character in SideFX Houdini. You can also create MetaHuman-compatible strand-based grooms in Houdini and import them into Unreal Engine via the Alembic file format.

With MetaHuman for Houdini you can:

  • Use the MetaHuman Character Rig HDA to assemble any MetaHuman Character asset exported from Unreal Engine using the DCC Export assembly pipeline as a ready-to-animate rigged and textured character.

  • Import/export MetaHuman-compatible animation from Unreal Engine onto an assembled MetaHuman character.

  • Take advantage of parametric groom tools using the Hairstyle Generator HDA to rapidly iterate new hairstyles using a guide-driven workflow based on pre-authored data.

  • Use a structured, procedural workflow to style hair on the standard MetaHuman head mesh or your imported character.

  • Create complex hairstyles such as ponytails, knots, buns, braids and donuts, in conjunction with Houdini’s procedural toolset.

  • Export MetaHuman-compatible grooms to Unreal Engine.
