The Ghadir or غدیر, class Submarine is a midget submarines developed by the IRGC for coastal defense and patrol. The Ghadir is the largest class of ships operated by the IRGC and is designed to attack ships and submarines in the narrow channels of the persian gulf. The Ghadir while being redumentary is equipped with sonar, digital navigation, and armed with two 530mm torpedo tubes. These can be reloaded while underway and can fire both torpedos and antiship missiles, it can carry up to 8 weapons. The Ghadir can be used for special operations as well, equipped with a airlock and storage for diving equipment and limpet mines. The Ghadir design comes from North Korea; it purchased the orginal model in the late 1990s. The IRGC has since modified the submarine in four batches, the current variant is able to fire the Hoot supercaviating torpedos, with a top speed of 250km, the Hoot can strike a ship from close range with little ablity to avoid being hit.
