You've built this system before. You just didn't call it that.

The door that opens once the player steps close. The enemy that spawns after the cutscene. The tutorial popup that waits for a level to finish streaming before it fires. Every project needs "do this, then this, then this" — and every team ends up building it the same way: a Delay node here, a bound event there, a `bHasTriggered` bool nobody remembers the meaning of six months later. It works, until the one person who understands it is on vacation and something breaks in the middle of a milestone build.

FlowPilot is what that system looks like when it's actually designed instead of accumulated.

It's a visual, task-based flow editor for Unreal Engine — the same composition patterns (Sequence, Selector, Parallel, Loop) that power industry-standard Behavior Trees, pointed at gameplay events instead of AI. Build a flow once as a reusable Data Asset, drop it on any actor, and watch it run — live, with an in-game debug overlay that shows you exactly which step is active, right now, on the actor you're staring at. No more guessing why the trigger didn't fire.

Why teams switch to FlowPilot
  • Designers stop waiting on programmers. A drag-and-drop task tree, not a Blueprint graph — cut, copy, paste, duplicate, reorder. Anyone on the team can build and rewire a sequence in minutes.

  • One flow, reused everywhere. Flows are Data Assets, not spaghetti tangled into one level Blueprint. Reuse the same trigger-and-spawn sequence across ten rooms; change it once, every instance updates.

  • A real task library, not a blank canvas. Trigger volumes, distance checks, AI Move To and Run Behavior Tree, spawn/destroy/possess, animation, sound, screen fades, level streaming, sub-flows — most sequences need zero new code out of the box.

  • Hit a wall? Extend it in minutes. Subclass one Blueprint base class and your custom Task plugs into Sequence/Selector/Parallel/Loop exactly like a built-in one. Full C++ extension too, when you need it.

  • Decoupled by design. Reference actors by GameplayTag instead of hard references, so the same Flow asset drives different actors in different levels without a single edit.

  • See it running, live. An in-game debug overlay shows the active/queued/completed state of every task, per actor, in real time — "why isn't this triggering" stops being a 40-minute breakpoint hunt.

  • Runs the way your game needs it to. Run once, retry until success, retry until failure, or loop forever — a dropdown, not more wiring.

  • Ships with real profiling. Built-in Unreal Insights stat groups, so "is FlowPilot the reason we dropped a frame" is a five-second answer, not a guess.

📦 What's Included
  • Content Map — every individual FlowPilot Task, isolated, so you can see exactly how each one works before you build with it.

  • Game Map Template — FlowPilot driving a full level: streaming, spawning/despawning, logic gating, a simple character setup, progression, UI notifications.

  • TagActorComponent — tag any actor in seconds so it's instantly referenceable from your Flows.

  • Example Component — a barebones Health and Inventory component, so you can see a Flow actually driving gameplay state, not just playing animations.

🏁 Getting Started
  1. Add FlowPilot to your project from Fab.

  2. Open the Content Example Map and play with the included FlowPilot Data Assets.

  3. Read the docs when you're ready to build your own.

Built For

Cutscenes and scripted events · Tutorials and onboarding · Environmental puzzles and triggers · Quest and objective chains · AI sequencing on top of Behavior Trees · Procedural encounters · Anywhere your team currently says "we'll just chain some Delay nodes together."
