THE PROBLEM
USD imports create a wrapped actor hierarchy — UsdStageActor containers, geometry buried inside parent actors. These aren't native UE StaticMeshActors: they can't be Nanite-enabled, merged, converted to ISM, or submitted to HLOD builders. Artists are left converting them manually, one at a time.
THE SOLUTION
USD Scene Unpacker Free converts the actors you have selected into native UE actors in a single click. Pick the actors you want from the Outliner, press Unpack Selected — every StaticMesh instance becomes a proper StaticMeshActor, lights and cameras are detached and preserved, empty containers are cleaned up. No batch limit to configure, no analyse step, no root actor required. The whole operation is a single undo step.
This is the Free Selection-mode edition. For batched hierarchy unpacking with the Analyse pass and configurable Limit, upgrade to USD Scene Unpacker (full edition).

FEATURES
● Unpack Selected
Select any actors in the viewport or Outliner and press Unpack Selected — instant conversion. No root actor required, no analyse step.
● Full Undo Support
The entire Unpack operation is wrapped in a single editor transaction. Ctrl+Z restores the scene to its pre-Unpack state in one step.
● Lights and Cameras Preserved
StaticMesh instances are converted and their source actors deleted. Lights and cameras are detached from their containers and kept. Empty containers are destroyed.
● Editor-Only, Zero Runtime Cost
The plugin runs only in the editor and adds nothing to packaged builds.

UPGRADE TO THE FULL EDITION
USD Scene Unpacker (full edition) adds Analyse Mode for hierarchy reporting, batched Unpack with a configurable Limit for large scenes, and root-actor automation that flattens an entire USD hierarchy from one selection.
