描述
This forest environment pack contains 43 unique game-ready & scientifically accurate plant and rock meshes made for use in Unreal 5 with Nanite and Lumen, as well as a fully-built example forest environment. The meshes consist of rocks, fallen leaves, trees and ferns made from the following plant species:
American Sweetgum Tree (Liquidambar styraciflua)
Southern Woodfern (Dryopteris ludoviciana)
Each asset was created using real-world photographs and either hand-modeled based on real-world reference or made with photogrammetry (rocks & tree trunk), with extra care used to keep them scientifically accurate. The only specific deviation from scientific accuracy is in the Sweetgum tree, which does not include it's seed pods.
All of the meshes were made from the ground up to be used with Nanite: no texture transparency is used, meaning the plants are fully modeled and offer both high-fidelity and high-performance when using Nanite. Aside from the rocks and large tree trunks, no photogrammetry was used to create the plants, allowing the textures to be intentionally laid-out and optimized at 2k resolution. All of the materials are instanced from one or two masters (one for plants, one for solids like the rocks & bark), further increasing performance without sacrificing visual quality. The materials include multiple layers of wind from swaying to rustling, using distance-based WPO to add believable movement to the plants without sacrificing performance.
The example scene in the screenshots shows off how to build a complete forest environment using these assets and is included in the pack. Lighting in the scene was set up for use with hardware raytracing, but can be adjusted to be used without raytracing.
