Lorica Segmentata – Corbridge A | Historically Accurate 3D Model
This historically faithful 3D model represents the Corbridge A type of the iconic Roman Lorica Segmentata, used by Roman legionaries from around 40 AD to the mid-2nd century (circa 120 AD).
Emerging after the older Kalkriese type, Corbridge A introduced several improvements in functionality and protection. Most of the exposed leather straps were replaced by external metal hooks and lacing loops, making the armor easier to secure and maintain in the field. It still retained essential leather buckles on the upper chest and back, a transitional feature later refined in newer variants.
A distinctive innovation of this model is the presence of eight smaller shoulder plates along the sides, likely designed to provide extra protection to the upper arms — a feature not present in earlier designs.
This model was built after careful study of archaeological findings and reconstruction reports, offering a balance of detail and performance. It is optimized for real-time use, rendering, educational content, historical games, or 3D printing references, without being overly heavy or simplistic.
Model Features:
Balanced and optimized polygon count
Realistic proportions, rivet and fastening logic
UV-mapped and clean topology
Ideal for visualization, animation, or printing
Available formats: [.fbx, .obj, .blend, etc.]
