Lantern shields were said to be created during the Renaissance in Italy around the 16th and 17th centuries. I think these intricate designs were used for something more than the standard oil lamps that we are lead to believe. Was it used to harness a greater power when in combat or during sparring?

I particularly like the many devices combined with the shield such as the withdrawable sword and other contraptions. It almost gives me a steampunk vibe.

It was a pleasure to see my unique design come together and to really understand how much craftsmanship it must have took to forge the original shields.
