Cel Shader Pro delivers modular post-process cel shading and outlines through Unreal Engine 5's rendering pipeline, letting you drop stylized looks into any project without touching source materials. The system splits shading and outlines into independent material parameters you can tune per-volume, so swapping from comic-book flatness to soft-toon gradients takes minutes, not pipeline rewrites. Because it runs entirely in post-process, your existing assets stay untouched, no custom lighting models, no per-mesh overrides. Just add the materials to your post process volume and iterate live.

Cel Shader Pro gives you a clean, modular post-process setup for stylized rendering in Unreal Engine 5.

The system is built as separate post-process materials for cel shading and outlines. You can use either one alone or combine them, and both plug straight into a post process volume in your level. We originally developed this for a comic-book look in our own projects, but the parameter-driven setup means you can push it toward a range of art styles without touching code or rebuilding assets. It works with your existing content and stays compatible with Lumen, Nanite, LODs, and the rest of UE5's rendering stack.

The design keeps implementation simple.

Because the effect runs through post processing, you get global coverage immediately without per-asset setup. Outline and Cel Shading live as independent materials, so you can toggle or tune each one separately. Parameters are exposed for quick iteration, which helps when you're locking in a look or need to adapt across different environments. Everything scales with your project rather than adding pipeline overhead.

This shader started in our own game, BoltBreak 2. Building it internally first meant we could work through the practical friction points, setup steps, parameter ranges, edge cases with different asset types, before packaging it for other teams.
