Interpretation of the Image
1. Hair and Crown : Thick, curly hair, with a woven floral crown around the head (the exclusive crown for the priests of Dionysus), the hair is intricately and delicately carved, characteristic of Greek portrait sculptures from the Roman period.
2. Facial Features : A young man's face, with short beard and a small mustache on the upper lip; the facial contour is gentle, the eyes are calm and solemn, belonging to an official portrait of a priest, not an ordinary citizen.
3. Identity : A priest of Dionysus (the god of wine), responsible for the Dionysus festival and religious ceremonies related to the theatre. The Dionysus Theatre was the venue for Dionysus sacrifices and drama competitions.
