Elevate your underwater environments with this Humpback Whale Asset, enhanced by a procedural spline animation system for fluid, dynamic movements. This whale behaves in a lifelike manner, opening its mouth near the player, bending & rolling along spline curves, and singing whale songs for an immersive experience.

Spline Animation System

Experience seamless, lifelike movements as the whale navigates through your scenes. This system includes a vast array of settings allowing you to customize whale behavior (see screenshot above for settings). The system works by detecting the speed and angle of the spline, using this data to drive 2 swimming animations and 3 distinct poses within its animation blueprint, producing natural, fluid motion.

Art Direction

The whale's material parent was designed for maximum flexibility, allowing you to fine-tune details like scratches, dirt, and roughness with granular control. The eye is a seperate material, utilizing parallax occlusion to provide realistic depth. They eye itself is animated seperately and blended in using the animation blueprint, adding life to its movements. Despite the high detail, this whale is only 11k vertices and runs smooth as butter.
