Overview
Modular Materials integrates an extensive suite of procedural material nodes directly into Unreal Engine 5 (Material Functions). Delivered as an official Fab plugin, it ensures seamless automatic updates and instant access via Material Functions → Modular Functions within the Material Editor. Whether you’re crafting UI elements, VFX masks, or dynamic world-space effects, Modular Functions empowers you with fully parameterized, performance-optimized shaders—no external textures or custom HLSL required.
Key Features
Bake any Material Instance into a Texture2D asset directly from the Content Browser: simply right‑click on your instance anywhere in the project, choose Bake Material, and Modular Materials will automatically generate a high‑quality Texture2D of your procedural material—streamlining asset workflows and enabling easy export or optimization without leaving the editor.
Included Material Functions:
Centre Noise: Symmetrical Voronoi and Perlin patterns, fully adjustable and animatable for organic motion.
Circle: Precision sprite-based circular masks with adjustable radius, edge softness, and power curves.
Flash: Rotating radial beams with editable count, sharpness, speed, and hue for striking light bursts.
Generate Normal: Instant procedural normal-map derivation from any height or mask input.
Polygon: N-sided shape generator with configurable side count, outer radius, outline thickness, and rotation.
Rings: Concentric ring layers—tune spacing, opacity, and animation for ripples or wood-grain effects.
Rotate Coords: UV rotation utility for smooth or stepped spins, fully driven by time or custom parameters.
Wood: Natural wood-grain simulation via concentric circular layers, complete with noise modulation.
Samples: A ready-to-use collection of example graphs demonstrating best practices and creative techniques.
