A production-ready, World Partition-resilient C++ marker architecture designed for performance and cross-discipline workflow.

Avoid the performance pitfalls of Blueprint-heavy UI ticking. The Advanced C++ Marker Subsystem is an enterprise-grade framework designed to handle hundreds of on-screen waypoints, objective markers, and multiplayer pings without dropping a single frame.

Built entirely in C++ and inheriting from UWorldSubsystem, this architecture bypasses the overhead of traditional Actor Components. Whether your team is building a cozy simulator or a fast-paced, narrative-driven roguelite shooter, this subsystem ensures your UI remains buttery smooth.

Key Architectural Pillars:

  • Zero-Hitch Widget Pooling: Markers are dynamically acquired and released from a central pool. By keeping inactive widgets in memory rather than destroying them, it completely eliminates Slate layout calculation spikes and garbage collection hitches during intense gameplay.

  • World Partition & Streaming Resilient: Fully supports open-world data streaming. The system caches the last known FTransform of unloaded actors using TSoftObjectPtr, ensuring markers reliably track targets even when their underlying partition streams out.

  • Designer-Driven Configuration: Separates presentation from logic. UI artists can create endless marker variations (quests, enemies, pings) via Data Assets, fully controlling distance-scaling curves, edge-indicator padding, and opacity without touching code or Blueprints.

  • Multiplayer Safe: Built with dedicated servers in mind. The subsystem gracefully bypasses viewport projections and widget allocations on headless servers to prevent crashes and wasted CPU cycles.
