Project PARIS – “The Alpine Monster”
(Unofficially “The Mountain Paris” or simply “Paris”)After rumors reached the remnants of the former Austro-Hungarian territories of the American T21-M “Little David” and the British Project MONITOR “Last Eighteen,” a desperate search began for any remaining super-heavy ordnance that could match them. German forces had attempted to hide one of the original Paris Guns deep in the old imperial mountain tunnels of the former Austro-Hungarian Alps. When the empire collapsed, the weapon simply sat on the territory of a successor state. Decades later, Austrian rail workers clearing abandoned imperial tunnels rediscovered the massive, carefully concealed barrel and components.Using the vast metal reserves still available from the old empire’s industrial base, and every scrap of the best technology they and the Germans could assemble (including World War II-era upgrades to fire control, hydraulics, propulsion, and stabilization), they built a single colossal walker around it. Only one was ever completed. It remains one of the largest machines of its kind ever constructed.Standing approximately 100 feet (30.5 m) tall, the Alpine Monster is a heavily armored, multi-limbed walker optimized for extreme terrain. Its legs possess enormous power and exceptional grip strength, allowing it to climb steep mountain slopes, traverse rocky Alpine passes, and maintain stability on near-vertical faces that would defeat ordinary vehicles. The recovered Paris Gun—its roughly 120-foot (36–37 m) composite barrel upgraded with improved bracing, modernized breech mechanisms, and refined propellant systems—rides on its back as the primary armament.

Primary Armament – Upgraded Paris Gun

• Original German WWI “Paris Gun” (lange 21 cm Kanone), caliber initially ~210–211 mm (later ~238 mm), barrel length ~111–121 ft.

• Shell weight ~106 kg (234 lb).

• Maximum range still approaches or exceeds 120–130 km under favorable conditions, with the projectile reaching the stratosphere.

The finest German and Austrian optical and ballistic minds of the era—astrophysicists, ballisticians, and scientists—were gathered to refine its fire-control systems. When a target is visible through its powerful telescopic sights, the combination of advanced analog computers, atmospheric modeling, and Earth-rotation corrections allows shots that once seemed impossible. Accuracy becomes terrifyingly precise at extreme ranges if the target can be seen and tracked.

Secondary Armament

• Front: Six autocannons plus one smaller tank-style cannon (a motorized Škoda-derived field gun variant capable of ranges up to ~21 km).

• Sides: One autocannon and one naval casemate cannon on each side.
  The casemate weapons are Škoda 15 cm/50 (5.9") K10 guns—the finest casemate-mounted naval cannon of the old Austro-Hungarian Kriegsmarine, originally the secondary armament of the Tegetthoff-class dreadnoughts (45.5 kg shells, ~15 km range at modest elevation, rapid fire for their size).

• Total of eight autocannons distributed forward and to the sides for close- and medium-range defense against infantry, light vehicles, and aircraft.

High in the mountains, wrapped in thick armor and bristling with weapons, the Alpine Monster became a terror to any force that dared approach—ground troops, armored columns, or even aircraft. Its elevated positions, combined with the long reach of the Paris Gun and the dense secondary battery, made it one of the most dangerous machines ever fielded. At the same time its sheer size made it a conspicuous target, so it rarely ever leaves the high peaks and hidden valleys that protect it. One hundred years later it still endures, carrying the last living remnant of Austria-Hungary on its back. The surviving command and core of the old imperial identity reside within its vast armored hull—the safest and most fortified location left to them. The walker continues to patrol the high Alps, its massive silhouette occasionally visible against the ridgelines, a silent, mobile mountain fortress that has outlasted the empires that created it. Only one was ever made.
It was forged from a hidden German gift, Austrian steel, and the last great minds of two fallen powers.
And it still climbs.
